How to Install Memory Map to a Navigon GPS
Navigon's line of GPS navigation devices come with an array of features, depending on how much you've paid and how long ago. If you want to boost your device's mapping detail and functions, especially off the road and into the wilderness or high seas, you can do it by upgrading your Navigon maps with the company--for a fee upwards of $9.99--or by purchasing a compatible third-party mapping system, like Memory-Map, which offers owners continual 3D mapping in the air, land or sea, incorporating the points of interest of 2010.

Turn on your Navigon GPS and connect it to your computer via USB connector.

Navigate to the Navigon support site (the third link in the References section) and click on the upgrade for your particular model number, if available. If it's not listed, try searching for it in the top-left search box. Press "Save File" after you've clicked to download it, and place it in a convenient location on your computer.

Double-click on the firmware upgrade's icon after it's fully downloaded, then select "Run." Follow the on-screen prompts to unlock your Navigon device's old firmware and install the latest version. This will ensure your device is equipped to handle the language used with Memory-Map.

Navigate to the Memory-Map download site (see Resources). Click the first link to download the file, which will take up 26 MB of RAM. Select "Save File" and place the .zip file on your computer. Double-click its icon after download and select "Run." Follow the prompts to unlock your Navigon base map and let Memory-Map take over.

Familiarize yourself with the Memory-Map program on your computer first, where you can plan routes that can easily be downloaded to your USB-connected device.
