How to Create a Blue Rose
Roses come in a variety of colors including red, peach, yellow and purple. When giving roses as gifts, people tend to select colors based on the symbolism as well as the recipient's favorite color. If your loved one likes the color blue, you can make a bouquet with blue roses that you created yourself. Blue roses are not available yet, but you can experiment at home creating blue roses by using white roses. Does this Spark an idea?

Pour a cup of water into a vase.

Add a few drops of blue food coloring into the water. Stir and add more blue food coloring if your want a darker shade of blue or add in water if it is too dark.

Cut ½ inch off of the white rose stems on a slant to encourage water absorption.

Place the white rose stems into the vase of blue food coloring. Check on the roses for the next 24 hours as they turn blue. The stems are absorbing the blue water, changing the white petals to blue.

Place the newly-created blue roses into a vase with clear, fresh water along with a flower preservative to extend the life of the roses. The clear water will contribute to the illusion of natural blue roses.
