How to Remove the Trigger Assembly on a CVA Wolf

The CVA Wolf is a break-action, inline muzzleloading rifle and one of the top sellers in the world. As with all weapons, and especially muzzleloading rifles, periodic maintenance and inspection is essential for optimal shooting performance and accuracy while in the field. Specific parts, including the trigger assembly, can be removed for cleaning or replacement if needed. Removing the trigger assembly is also a part of a thorough cleaning process.

Instructions

    • 1

      Unload the weapon completely. Visually inspect the muzzleloader to ensure no ammunition is present.

      Slide out the ramrod from underneath the muzzle.

      Unscrew and remove the hex screw from the stock fore-end. Unscrew and remove the hex screw behind the trigger guard.

      Take out the barrel/receiver assembly from the stock.

      Check to ensure that the bolt is in the uncocked position. Unscrew the rear receiver cap and remove it.

      Slide out the bolt spring from the receiver rear. Pull the bolt handle out of the receiver.

      Depress the trigger. Slide the bolt out of the receiver at the rear.

      Take off the breech plug using the breech plug removal tool supplied with the rifle.

      Unscrew the trigger mounting screws located underneath the receiver. Remove the trigger assembly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep a note as to where specific parts are located and how to put them back together. This will save you a headache when reassembling the weapon.

  • Never attempt to disassemble a loaded firearm.

  • Never perform maintenance on a loaded firearm.

  • Never point the CVA Wolf at anything that you do not intend to shoot.
