Instructions

    • 1

Open the doors and windows. Allowing fresh air in will help remove smoke odors. Allow ceiling fans -- if applicable -- to run for several hours.

    • 2

Place window fans inside the windows. Set the window fans to suck air out of the room instead of blowing air in. Allow the window fans to run for several hours.

    • 3

Run a dehumidifier that features a HEPA filter designed to remove smoke odors in the room. Allow the dehumidifier to run for several days.

    • 4

Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar. Spray upholstery and curtains liberally with the vinegar. Allow the vinegar to air dry on the item. Vinegar is an all-natural deodorizer that eliminates tough odors.

    • 5

Sprinkle baking soda liberally over carpets. Allow the baking soda to sit on the carpet for 24 hours. After the allotted time has passed, remove the baking soda with a vacuum.

    • 6

Remove smoke odors from walls by wiping them down with a cloth saturated in white vinegar. Allow the vinegar to air dry on the walls.

    • 7

Fill several small bowls with white vinegar and place them in various locations. The vinegar will remove cigarette smoke odor from the air. Alternatively, place charcoal briquettes in bowls to remove odors in the air.

    • 8

Wrap several cinnamon sticks loosely in aluminum foil and place on a cookie sheet inside a 325 degree preheated over. Allow the cinnamon sticks to sit in the oven for 15 minutes. After the allotted time has passed, turn the oven off and open the oven door. The cinnamon will help eliminate odors while filling the area with a pleasant scent.
