How to Make Your Own Havianas
The first pair of Havaianas was developed in 1962 in Brazil and was modeled after Japanese sandals with rice-straw soles and fabric straps. The woven texture stamped into the Havaianas sandals is made to mimic the texture of the rice straw. Havaianas makes sandals for children, women and men in a variety of colors, styles and patterns. In the spring, Havaianas often hosts events across the United States to design your own sandals, where you can select crystals and pins to add to them, but making your own unique pair of Havaianas can easily be done at home.
