You can cut a fringe border for a no-sew fleece blanket.

A homemade blanket is a great project to give as a gift to a loved one or to keep for yourself as a cozy throw blanket. You can make a blanket out of fleece fabric, creating a fringed border that requires no sewing to complete. A no-sew blanket is ideal for those not handy with a needle, and is a good first fabric project for little ones who aren't yet comfortable using a sewing machine.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay two pieces of fleece fabric on top of one another. The pieces can be any size you like, but they should be of equal size. About three feet by four feet works well for this project.

    • 2

Pin the two panels together using straight pins, attaching a straight pin around the entire perimeter of the two pieces about every six inches.

    • 3

Cut a four-inch square out of each corner.

    • 4

Cut four inch slashes along the perimeter of the fabric, making one cut every inch or so. You should now have a border full of fringe.

    • 5

Tie each fringe piece in a knot with the piece directly underneath it, attaching the two panels together.

    • 6

      Remove all straight pins.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a unique look, use two pieces of fabric in colors that contrast.
