How to Register Business Names in New Hampshire
In New Hampshire, you must register a business name so that you can conduct business in another name other than that of your personal, legal name. This name registration allows the public to check the identity of a person operating under a particular business name. The registration takes place with the New Hampshire Secretary of State and, as of 2010, requires a $50 fee. After sending the completed paperwork, you'll receive a trade name certificate that confirms the final approval of your business name.

Tips & Warnings
You can also call the New Hampshire Secretary of State's Information Line at 603-271-3246, as an alternative to using the business name lookup tool to run a preliminary check on available business names.
Do not consider the business name availability search anything other than a preliminary check on available business names.
