Wrap your bridal bouquet in ribbon to add a finishing touch to your wedding.

The bridal bouquet accompanies the bride both ways down the aisle and to her wedding reception. It is captured in countless photographs and admired by many before the bride finally tosses it back to one of her friends or family members to take home. Although the bride and her dress are always the centerpiece of any wedding, the bouquet is where the colors of the wedding come together, tying in the theme of the wedding. Wrapping your bouquets in ribbon places a nice, finishing touch on the flowers and your wedding as a whole. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Trim the thorns and excess leaves off the flower stalks using the flower cutters. Cut the ends of the flowers in a slant. Lay the flowers out in a row on your workspace.

    • 2

Chose the flower or flowers you want to be in the center of the bouquet, and hold them together. Choose flowers to place around the center, and position them in a circle around your center flowers. When you like the way the center of the bouquet looks, tie the flowers together near the center of the stalks using a piece of string or wire.

    • 3

Place more flowers around your bouquet, making one circle at a time. After you complete each circle, tie the flowers into place as before. Continue until your bouquet is complete.

    • 4

Cut the ends of the bouquet so they all have one, even length. Make sure the ends of the shortest flower stalks aren't left slanted.

    • 5

Wrap a thick ribbon around the string you used to tie the bouquet together to ensure it is properly hidden. Continue wrapping the ribbon tightly around the stalk, overlapping the ribbon slightly each time so the stalks don't show through. Wrap the ribbon all the way down the stalks at least once. To finish it off, either glue the ribbon into place or tuck the end piece underneath the rest of the ribbon, between the ribbon and the flower stalks.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're using live flowers, allow them to soak in water for at least two or three hours after you cut the ends off. Allowing them to soak up a good amount of water will keep them fresh all day long.

  • When you're placing the flowers in the bouquet, try to criss-cross the stems a little bit to help them stay together better.

  • To hold the ribbon firmly in place as you start, you may want to use hot glue to stick the end of the ribbon onto a flower stalk.

  • If you want to create a thicker handle on the stalks, wrap the ribbon up and down the stalk one or two more times, continuing to overlap as you go.

  • If you glue the end piece of the ribbon in place, you can cut another piece of ribbon and tie a bow to cover the seam, or glue pearls or other decorative items on top of the ribbon.
