You Polaris watercraft needs to be winterized to ensure a long-lasting engine. Water inside the engine can cause the engine block to crack when it freezes. This water must be removed and the carburetor must be fogged to prevent major problems in the spring. Purchase the supplies at your local boat shop and do the process yourself to save time and money from trailering the watercraft to a mechanic. The process can be done in about 30 minutes.

      Start the engine by pressing the green button on the handlebars. Allow the engine to run while moving the handlebars back and forth rapidly. Turn the engine off by pressing the red button. Do not allow the engine to run for more than 30 seconds before letting it cool.

      Remove the seat by pressing the release levers on each side. This will give you access to the engine compartment.

      Locate the carburetors on the engine. Your engine may have two or three carburetors depending on the engine size.

      Start the engine again by pressing the green button on the handlebars.

      Spray fogging oil into the carburetors until the engine stalls.

      Disconnect the negative battery terminal with a screwdriver.
