How to Dial an International Number From the USA
Placing an international number from the United States can be done within minutes. Depending on the country you are calling, you might dial up to 17 numbers to reach your party. Many mobile and landline phone service providers offer international calling plans to help keep the costs to a minimum. You can place a call internationally without the assistance of an operator.

Dial the international direct dialing (IDD) number for the USA. The IDD number identifies the origin of the call and indicates that the call is not operator-assisted. The IDD number for the United States is "011."

Dial the country code. The country code identifies the country or area you are calling. The country code can be located using the online tool provided by Country Calling Codes (see Resources).

Dial the area code and phone number. Your call should go through.

Tips & Warnings
If you are calling an international mobile number, you might need to dial an additional code before dialing the area code and phone number. Use the online tool on How to Call Abroad to determine if an additional code is necessary.
Some mobile phone carriers require you to dial a "+" prior to dialing the IDD number. Check with your mobile carrier to determine if this is necessary.
You can make an operator-assisted international call by dialing "0" or "00" from your landline or mobile phone. There might be an additional fee for the service.
