How to Adjust a Sensor Light

Adjusting a sensor light is essential if the light appears to be too sensitive. Perhaps a gust of wind brings leaves in front of the light, causing it to turn on automatically. If the light shines directly into your window while you're trying to sleep, this can be incredibly annoying. However, you can easily adjust the sensor light to your liking, ensuring it's as sensitive or nonsensitive as you'd like. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Look at the bottom of the sensor light. You'll see a slide switch as well as a sensory adjustment dial. Set the slide switch on the "Test" (or the equivalent) position and move the sensory adjustment to the halfway setting.

    • 2

Turn on the power to your light. The sensor light will power on for approximately 30 seconds and will then power off. This lets you know your light is working properly. Once powered off, aim the head of the sensor light at the area where you want the light to sense motion.

    • 3

Grab the necks of your sensor light and position them downward (to keep water from filling up the lampholder) and away from the sensor on your unit. Power the light back on. If the light goes off and on immediately, it's too close to the sensor. Adjust the neck of each sensor light accordingly, ensuring that you're keeping it aimed at the spot you want to monitor.

    • 4

Adjust the sensitivity of the lights and walk to the farthest area of the place you want to monitor. Walk back and forth around the area to see if the light powers on. If it does not, readjust the sensitivity and repeat the test. Eventually, you'll have the sensitivity of your sensor light perfect.
