How to Throw Away Cardboard
Throwing cardboard away in the regular trash is not always the best way to get rid of this reusable material. Cardboard fills landfills with materials that contribute to environmental decline. Pick up a recycling bin from your local community or government center. Most cities offer at least one or two free recycling bins for each household. Because cardboard is a paper product, it is material that can be thrown away and then recycled.

Break down the box. Remove any tape, plastic or other material that may not be recycled with cardboard and then open any flaps. Flatten the cardboard and bend it along the creases to make it small and compact.

Keep bins that contain cardboard materials outside of your house until it is time for pickup. Because paper materials attract roaches and other insects that eat them, it is best to keep discarded cardboard on a dry porch, garage or carport until it is ready to be thrown away.
