How to Put a Tubeless Tire on a Rim
Mountain bikes often use tubeless tires in order to reduce the weight of the wheels installed on your bike. This makes it easier for you to make long rides on your bike without feeling like you are carrying a ton of weight with you. The tubeless tire is commonly installed on the rim and is secured well to prevent any leaks. Unlike normal tires, this type of tires works under lower air pressure. This allows the tires to spread a little wider to increase their contact with the road.
Things You'll Need
- ½ teaspoon of dish soap
- 32 ounces of water
- Empty spray bottle
- Bicycle tire pump
- Replacement valve stem cap
Instructions

1
Pour the dish soap and water inside your empty spray bottle, and shake it for a few seconds to mix both ingredients. Spray the solution inside the rim of the tire in order to build moisture to help the beads of the tubeless tire to pop into place.
-
2
Take out the plastic valve stem cap of the tire and place the stem into the rim's hole. Make sure the stem's tip is pointed at the wheel's center.

-
3
Adjust the sidewall label with the valve stem, and mount the first tire bead into the rim. Push the bead with your thumbs to the center of the rim, and mount the second bead in the same way. Make sure that both beads of the tire are at the center point of the rim.
-
4
Unscrew the lock nut at the valve stem's tip with your fingers. Connect the pump head to the valve tip, and secure it in place.
-
5
Inflate the tire to about 20 psi, allowing the beads to lightly seal onto the rim's sides. Add more air into the tire until you hear a light popping sound in the beads.
-
6
Continue to inflate the tire with air until you are almost near the maximum psi. You will see this noted at the sidewall of the tire.
-
7
Take out the pump's head, and screw back the valve's lock nut. Install a new plastic valve stem cap, and test the tire on your bike.
