Members of the military are constantly moving, which can make it hard to locate an individual. With the Internet, finding a friend or relative in the military requires nothing more that knowing the name of the Army man or woman and their rank. Having a last known address is not necessary, but it can help in locating the individual by having a starting point for the search.

      Open a web browser and go to "Military.com." Click "Buddy Finder," which is above the search box on the page.

      Type in the information about the individual in the finder. Type the name, rank and any other known information to identify the individual. Keep in mind that some names are common, even in the military, so the rank or any other identifying information can make finding someone easier.

      Browse the names on the website. Anyone that is already a member of Military.com will have their email address on the website. Many military personnel are not, but the website will provide information from the Freedom of Information Act, which will give a basic location.
