How to Get the Bomb Bag in Zelda Phantom Hourglass

Released for the Nintendo DS, "The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass" focuses on the adventures of Link, as he ventures after his lost friend, Tetra. The game is a direct sequel to the 2003 Nintendo GameCube title, "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker." In the game, you will require plenty of different weapons to complete your adventures. Using the bomb bag enables you to destroy enemies in a new way and activate new locations. You cannot carry bombs or bombchus without a bomb bag or bombchu bag, respectively.

      Visit any store on an island and purchase the original bomb bag. It will be available to you for 1,000 rupees. Alternatively, you can travel to Bannan Island and play in the cannon game in order to win the first bomb bag.

      Visit Dee Ess Island and play in the goron game in order to win the bombchu bag. Instead, you could also purchase the bombchu bag for 1,000 rupees from any island store.

      Stop on Bannan Island and win the cannon game in order to get the upgrade for the bomb bag, if you purchased the original bomb bag from an island store. If you gained your first bomb bag by playing in the cannon game, you must purchase the upgrade for 2,000 rupees from any island store.

      Purchase the bombchu bag upgrade from any island store, if you gained the first bombchu bag by playing the goron game. If you gained the first bombchu bag by purchasing it from the island store, you must play the goron game in order to get its upgrade.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will need to obtain your initial bomb or bombchu bag before you visit the Temple of Wind, where bombs will be required to blast away obstacles.

  • Once you pull a bomb out, you only have a few seconds to toss it before it explodes. Otherwise, you will lose health.

  • The first bomb or bombchu bag holds 20 bombs or bombchus, while the upgrade can hold up to 30.

  • After you obtain the bomb bag, revisit old locations and look for artificial walls or boulders. Throw a bomb to test it out. You may discover hidden locations filled with items and rupees.
