The LNB sits in front of the dish to focus on a specific satellite.

The LNB or Low Noise Block is the part of the satellite dish system that is positioned in front of the dish to receive the satellite signal. You can still use an older triple LNB satellite dish with the DirecTV Plus HD DVR, however you will not be able to receive the HD quality television signal. The older triple LNB satellite dishes connect to the receiver in the same manner as the newer dishes.
