How to Emphasize Eye Color

If you feel like your eyes are plain and you want to emphasize your eye color, using specific eyeshadows defined by your own eye color will bring them out. Celebrities always seem to have eyes that pop because they have stylists and makeup artists to choose the right colors to bring out their features. Emphasizing eye color takes just a few tweaks in your cosmetic bag and wardrobe. Wardrobe color and style also help make eye color appear brighter, so it is important to pay attention to that as well.

Instructions

1. Highlight your hair if you have light colored eyes. Green and hazel eyes have glints of gold or bronze that can be seen if you look very closely. Highlighting your hair will bring out the natural light in your eyes and emphasize your eye color.

2. Wear the closest color to your eye color; this will make your eye color stand out. If you are wearing dark eyeliner, you may also match your clothing to your eyeliner to further define the eye for a more dramatic look.

3. Wear eyeshadows that are in the opposite color family or complementary colors. For example, if your eyes are blue, wear warm browns to bring out your eye color. If your eyes are green, wear purple or bronze eyeshadows to bring out the green. If you have brown eyes, purples and blues tend to bring them out effectively.

4. Curl your eyelashes before applying mascara. This opens up the eye and makes your eyes look bigger and more pronounced. Apply false lashes for ultimate emphasis and attention to the eyes.

5. Line your the top eyelid with black liner if you have dark eyes and dark brown liner for lighter blue or green eyes. Use a liner that is that is opposite your eyecolor and soften it. Then repeat to darken the inner line.
