If you need to hire a model for a catwalk show, photography or television project, you will first need to host a model search or casting. This involves meeting models and looking at their portfolios to see if they are right for your project. There are lots of ways that you can search for a model depending upon your specifications. Place a casting call on an model website. A quick online search will reveal numerous casting portal websites such as Model Mayhem where models have online profiles. Place an advert outlining what you are looking for and include the time and location of the photo shoot and what payment you are offering to models.

Contact modeling agencies and browse model profiles on the agency website. Model profiles include details of a model's previous work, her statistics and images from her portfolio.

Write down the names of potential models and ask the agency if they are free to attend a casting day. Sometimes agencies may not have a suitable model on their website but can still find a suitable model for you, so it may be worth calling them with your requirements.

Invite models from the agency and any that have responded to your online advertisement to a casting day. Let the models know if they need to bring any particular items with them such as high heels or their portfolio. The casting day will vary depending upon the type of model you need, if is for a catwalk show have them walk the runway.
