How to Create an Elegant Brochure
One of the most important aspects of running any business is figuring out how to reach current customers while enticing new ones. Ads in newspapers and on TV can accomplish this, but a less expensive method is to create brochures for distribution. Keep in mind that, if you choose to hire a professional graphics artist and printer to actually produce the brochure, you should involve yourself in the process to make sure the final design conveys your message.

1
Choose a theme, to avoid throwing images and text together, and to help you focus on content. For example, if you have wine shop that will be offering a special on French wines, create a design that incorporates idyllic scenes of streams and vineyards to evoke the French countryside.
-
2
Select a font. Bookstore owners may prefer to use Bookman Old Style or Charlemenge Standard, while a florist or stationery store proprietor might choose a cursive script such as Blackadder or Vivaldi.

3
Create a layout that avoids clutter and confusion. Do not overlap images, create collages (which are more appropriate to a more modern brochure) or use too many colors. In an elegant brochure, simplicity is best.
-
4
Save your design to a CD or flash drive. It should be in a format that most professional printers can handle, such as a Word document or an image format like JPEG.

5
Choose a printer for your brochure. Rather than printing it yourself, it saves money to to print in bulk using a professional. One approach is to use a company that has an online utility for uploading your files, such as Staples or Office Depot. Alternatively, you can take your CD or flash drive to one of their local stores to have the brochures printed.
