How to Rack Mount an LCD Screen

The VESA connections on the back of LCDs allow you to mount it

Rack mounting an LCD TV is done by mounting the rack to the wall, then attaching a bracket to the back of the TV using the TV's VESA connections (standardized hole patterns) and attaching the bracket to the rack. VESA connections are made specifically to connect to wall-mounting units.

Things You'll Need

• Stud finder
• Pencil
• Wrench
• Phillips screwdriver

Instructions

1. Locate two vertical studs behind the drywall where you want to mount the TV. Once you have located the studs, mark the location with a pencil.

2. Place the mounting rack against the wall so the mounting holes lie over the wall studs. Insert the mount bolts through the mounting holes of the rack and tighten them into the wall with a wrench.

3. Set the TV bracket against the back of the TV so the holes on the bracket align with the holes on the TV. Insert the VESA screws through the bracket and into the TV. Tighten the VESA screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

4. Lift the TV so the screen is against your chest and the bracket is facing away from you. Have a friend guide the bracket into the connections on the rack, and tighten the security screw with a Phillips screwdriver.
