Undercover agents traditionally perform risky and clandestine activities in order to uphold the law. This line of work has been illustrated in the media but is now accessible to anyone possessing the necessary dedication and skills to protect their fellow civilians.

      Decide which type of organization you would want to work for. Ultimately your main goal will be to hide or disguise your identity in order to gain information from a criminal entity. Some of the organizations that you can join are the FBI, police, NSA, CIA and many others.

      Go to the organization's local branch and find out what the entrance requirements are. Some agencies may require a college education or degree in Criminal Justice. Others may require military experience. Once the requirements are completed then you can apply in an official capacity. However you will begin your career as an entry level employee.

      Excel at your work and you will have a better chance of applying and getting into the undercover sector. Also you may show your superiors that you have certain attributes or physical features that will allow you to blend into certain groups or environments.

      Follow the law and live as a responsible civilian. Many government agencies expect their top agents to have a clean record with no prior criminal history.

      Contact the local branch of the agency and find out about possible internships or volunteering positions. Spend your free time working with the local police department. This is a good way to make contacts and to understand the inner workings of a government organization.
