How to Install a Garmin G600
It can be tempting to perceive Swiss navigation giant Garmin as merely a major force in the world of automobile satellite navigation, but this would be doing a disservice to their pedigree in the area of avionic navigation. For example, the G600 it certified to be retrofitted to light aircraft and used as a legitimate form of navigation in flight. Remarkably, it is no more difficult to install the appropriate G600 software than it is to set up an automobile satellite navigation system.

Navigate to the official Garmin website (see "Resources" below), which houses a plethora of software updates, navigation programs and product manuals. It is also where you will find the G600 training center update.

Click "Download" to download the training center update file into a directory on your hard drive. In default terms, this will be "c:\garmin", but you can change the destination folder. (Be sure to make a note of where you download it to, because you will need to access it.)

Navigate to the destination to which you downloaded the files and run the executable (.exe) file. Follow the on-screen wizard to complete your training-center installation.

Connect the G600 hardware to your computer using the sync cable that was provided with the purchase and follow the on-screen instructions to allow the update to sync with the hardware. This will ensure that your avionic hardware has the latest version of G600 software installed.

This update requires an IBM-compatible PC running a Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later operating system.
