How to Remove the Driver's Seat in a 1998 Ford Ranger

The driver's seat in the 1998 Ford Ranger is a bucket seat, which means it does not connect to the passenger seat as in older Ford Rangers. This allows Ford to install electronics in the seat to help you maximize your comfort. It also makes it easier to remove the seat when it wears out. You can remove the seat to upholster it or replace it with a new one.

Instructions

1. Locate the wiring harness that protrudes from the carpet under the driver's-side seat. The harness connects to the seat adjustment module. Press in on the center tab on the harness and pull the harness free from the module.

2. Remove the four bolts that secure the seat frame to the floor pan, using a socket and ratchet. You will locate one bolt in each of the four corners of the frame.

3. Lift up on the seat and remove it from the Ford Ranger.
