How to Tell If a Dell Desktop Has Wireless Connection Capabilities

Dell is a PC manufacturer that distributes computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system. Windows has built-in support for wireless Internet access, but not all desktop machines come with Wi-Fi capabilities. Many users upgrade their systems or perform customizations when they order the machine, making the base model's specifications unhelpful for determining the presence of a wireless card. Determine if your Dell has wireless capabilities through Windows.
Step 1
Open the "Start" menu and click "Control Panel."
Step 2
Type "Device Manager" in the search bar at the top right of the screen, then click the "Device Manager" heading that appears in the search results.
Step 3
Press the "+" symbol next to your desktop's name, and again next to "Network adapters."
Step 4
Look for "WiFi Adapter," "802.11" or "Wireless." Entries with this information in them are wireless adapters. If one is present, your system has the ability to connect to wireless access points.
