1
Place the KitchenAid food processor on a flat surface, away from the sink, before you begin to use it. Wait until all of the pieces are fitted securely into place before plugging in the appliance.
-
2
Put the work bowl in the center of the appliance. The hole of the work bowl should fit right into the stem that raises up from the center of the machine, and the handle of the bowl will be a little bit left of center. Firmly grasp the handle and turn the bowl to the right until you hear a click; the bowl is now locked into place.
-
-
3
Fit the desired accessory into the work bowl, such as the dough blade, slicing disk or shredding disk. The accessory you choose will depend on whether you're using your food processor to knead and mix, or to chop and slice. The equipment should slide and lock into place on the raised stem of your machine.
-
4
Place the KitchenAid food processor cover on the top of the bowl so that the feeding tube is located slightly to the left of the work bowl handle. Turn the cover to the right until it locks; if you need to force the cover, it's not on the machine correctly and should be removed and placed anew.
-
5
Fill the KitchenAid food processor with ingredients by either sending them down the feed tube -- this is handy when you want to add a liquid while the machine is mixing -- or by removing the cover and placing the ingredients in the work bowl. Lock the cover into place before turning on the machine.
-
6
Plug in the food processor and choose your speed of mixing or chopping. Press the "On" button if you need to mix or emulsify ingredients for a sustained period of time, like kneading bread dough or pureeing basil, pine nuts and garlic cloves to form a pesto. Hit the "Off" button when the consistency of the food inside the machine meets your expectations.
-
7
Choose the "Pulse" button for quick chops or slices, such as cutting up vegetables into chunks without liquefying the food. Each time you press "Pulse," the food processor will turn on for a short moment and then stop.
-
8
Wash the KitchenAid food processor after each use. Unplug the machine before you disassemble the pieces, which are dishwasher-safe. If you prefer to hand-wash the work bowl, accessories and cover, use a non-abrasive liquid dish soap and a soft sponge. Wipe down the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth if needed.
