Creating Grapevine Wreaths
An inexpensive and simple to make gift, grapevine wreaths require little work to create. You can find grapevines in woods or at state parks winding around or hanging from trees. Grapevines form from certain trees, such as beech or walnut. The thick vine, after soaking in water, can withstand manipulation to form into a round or oval wreath.
Things You'll Need

1
Cut the vine into 10-, 15- or 20-foot sections according to how large you want the wreath. Clip excess branches and curls from the vine with hand clippers.
-
2
Fill an old barrel or wash tub with water, and place the grapevine into the water to soak overnight.

3
Remove the grapevine from the water, and place on a working bench or picnic table. Working from one end of the grapevine, form the vine into a circle. Make the diameter as large or as small as you wish. Continue wrapping the vine in the circle until you come to the end.
-
4
Tuck the end of the vine into and around the already wound up area of the grapevine. You may also wrap a wire around the loose end and secure it by twisting the two wire ends together.
-
5
Wrap another grapevine around the first wreath if you want a thicker wreath. Slide one end of the grapevine into and around a piece of the wreath, and begin to wind the grapevine on top of the wreath. When finished, wire the end of the grapevine to the wreath. You may also add a wire to the two grapevines to secure them as one unit.
-
6
Lay or hang the wreath to dry for several days before adding decorative touches to it.
