Chipboard Tutorial
Chipboard is a versatile material and a type of cardboard. Chipboard is used to make cereal boxes and puzzles but it is also used in countless types of crafts. Chipboard is pliable, porous and easy to cut. Many scrapbookers and greeting card crafters use the material to make frames, lettering and shapes for adding embellishments to decorate their creations.

- Chipboard sheets
- Pencil
- Stencils
- Masking tape
- Utility knife
- Newspaper
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrushes
- Glitter glue
- Craft glue

Cutting

Draw a shape or letter onto your chipboard with a pencil. Use a stencil to create perfect shapes or letters.

Secure your chipboard sheet to your work surface with masking tape so that it does not move as you cut.

Cut along your pencil lines with a utility knife. Cut away from yourself and do not use your hand to steady the chipboard, as the tape is already holding it in place.
Decorating

Lay newspaper over your workspace to protect it from paint.

Paint your chipboard to add color. To do this, dip a dry paintbrush into acrylic paint of your choice.

Brush a solid coat of one color over the entire shape and allow it to dry.

Apply a second coat of the same color to ensure adequate coverage.

Apply details with other colors of acrylic paint, or use glitter glue to add some sparkle.
Attaching Decorations

Apply a thin layer of craft glue to the back of your chipboard decoration.

Press the chipboard decoration onto a scrapbook page, homemade card or calendar.
