How to Transfer a Jeep Powertrain Warranty

A Jeep vehicle comes with several standard and optional warranties. A warranty will cover a vehicle for either a length of time, or an amount of miles driven. One of these warranties is a powertrain warranty, which covers all parts of the vehicle that are used to generate power such as the engine, transmission and drive shaft. When you purchase a used Jeep, you may be covered by the existing warranty. However, to ensure that you're covered, you will need to transfer the powertrain warranty from the old owner to yourself. Every warranty except for the powertrain warranty is automatically transferred to the new owner.

Instructions

    • 1

Call a Chrysler or Jeep dealership. This should be done by the new owner.

    • 2

Complete the Transfer of Coverage Application at the dealership. This form will allow you to transfer the powertrain warranty from the previous owner to yourself.

    • 3

Pay a $150 powertrain warranty transfer fee. You pay this directly to the dealership, which will then finish the transfer for you.
