How to Open a Master Password Plus Padlock

A Master Lock Password Plus Combination Padlock opens with a combination that consists of four or more similar or mixed letters, numbers or symbols spelled out using a series of individual wheel-like dials that encircle the lock body. The password may spell out a word or any sequence of symbols and letters. To open the lock, the dials on your padlock must line up with the Master logo imprinted on the left side of the lock face. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Grasp the left side of the padlock body with your nondominant hand.

    • 2

Turn the first wheel so that the first part of the combination--letter, number or symbol--lines up with the Master logo. Typically, Master Lock sets its Password Plus Padlock default combination to "WORD3" or "LOC3," depending on the release date of the model. If you don't know the factory combination, contact Master Lock for assistance.

    • 3

Repeat the process with the rest of the dials and combination characters.

    • 4

Pull down on the lock body with your dominant hand to release the shackle and open the padlock.

Tips & Warnings

  • To change your combination after you open the padlock, simply remove the metal cap on the right side of the lock body, pull the dials from the padlock and reset the dials on the lock body with the characters of the new combination lined up with the Master logo. Reattach the cap, close the shackle, turn the dials out of sequence and then turn them again in sequence to open the lock.

  • After you set a new combination, register it for future reference at the free Master Lock Vault website.
