How to Scan & Save Text Documents

How to Scan & Save Text Documents thumbnail
Scanning and saving this document can help you preserve history.

Scanners are useful machines to have in a home or business office. You can use them to scan anything for which you need an electronic copy. When you're shopping for scanners, you have several options: you can buy a simple scanner or a scanner with a printer, copier and fax machine built right in. Another option is a flatbed scanner, which lets you scan pages from books or magazines without having to tear out the pages. This makes scanning documents all the more convenient.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your document on or in your scanner, and press the appropriate button to scan it.

    • 2

Click "Start" and "All Programs." Click on the scanner icon to open the menu for the scanner.

    • 3

Click on the icon for the document if the menu includes this option. If not, click the "Save" option, and choose a destination for the file.

    • 4

      Rename the scanned text document.
