How do I Troubleshoot a Majestic Propane Fireplace?

Propane fireplaces from Majestic come in many sizes and models. One model that you may be using in your home is a vent-free fireplace. This type of fireplace does not require any type of venting for fumes. A common problem that occurs with this type of fireplace is having the flame go out when using the control knob. Another problem that you may experience is when the burner does not light.

Things You'll Need

• Screwdriver
• Metal brush

Instructions

Flame Goes Out

1. Press on the control knob firmly to make sure it is pressed in all the way. Move the knob to the right to increase the heat.

2. Verify that the manual shut-off valve is completely open. Turn the valve counterclockwise or to the left to fully open the valve.

3. Examine the connection at the thermocouple. If the connection is loose, tighten it by hand.

Burner Does Not LIght

1. Examine the burner to see if there is an obstruction in the orifice. Any type of obstruction or clog will prevent the gas from coming out of the burner.

2. Remove the burner or orifice from the burner with a screwdriver.

3. Clean the burner with a metal brush to remove any dirt and soot that has accumulated on the burner.

4. Replace the burner or orifice and see if the fireplace will now start or light.

Tips & Warnings

• If the orifice is damaged or too difficult to get clean, you will need to replace it.
