How to Disable a Jeep Cherokee Car Alarm

There are a couple of ways to temporarily disable the Grand Cherokee's car alarm.

Although Jeep doesn't provide a method for permanently disabling the alarm on its Grand Cherokee, there are a variety of methods that can temporarily disable it or simply shut it off. When the alarm goes off, lights flash and a loud sound is emitted for three minutes. The alarm can last up to an additional 15 minutes if the original disturbance is not rectified. If you want to disable the alarm, you can do so in a few quick steps.

Instructions

1. Make sure nothing is actually wrong. Jeep's alarm is designed to protect against intruders and alert bystanders to their presence. Do not disarm it unless you are sure this is a false alarm.

2. Press the unlock button on your key fob, if your vehicle isn't equipped with the "Keyless Go." This should turn the alarm off and prevent it from sounding until the vehicle is locked.

3. Pull on one of the front vehicle door handles with the key fob in range, if your vehicle is equipped with "Keyless Go."

4. Turn on the vehicle's ignition, if all else fails. This should turn off the alarm.
