How to Get a Sexy Tan
Exposure to sunshine can give your skin a bronzed look that many people find attractive. While UVA and UVB rays emitted by the sun have been linked to skin cancer, premature aging and sunburns, outdoor tanning is still pursued to achieve a sexy, sun-kissed appearance. If you opt to sunbathe your way to a sexy tan, be sure to follow the proper techniques for safe sun exposure. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Scrub your skin in the shower using your loofah. Exfoliating your skin prior to tanning helps to smooth the skin's surface and remove any dead skin cells. This will produce an even tan.
-
2
Moisturize your skin by slathering on a rich lotion. Pay special attention to elbows, heels and knees as these areas are typically drier than other areas. Give the moisturizer 10 minutes to be absorbed completely into your skin.

3
Apply the sunblock generously to your skin. Cover your entire body, from face to feet, and don't forget your ears, neck and backs of your knees as these areas are often overlooked. The sunblock will filter the harmful rays while permitting your skin to tan. Use a sunblock with an SPF of at least 15. If you are fair, burn easily or are located in an area that receives intense sunlight, opt for a higher SPF sunblock.

4
Watch your clock to keep your sun exposure to a safe duration. You should limit your sun exposure based upon your skin type. Fair skin can usually tolerate 20 to 30 minutes of direct sunlight, while darker skin can handle longer periods. You will be building your tan over time so don't overdo it at the beginning. A sunburn can quickly halt your attempts to achieve a sexy tan.
-
5
Sip water frequently while tanning. The sun can cause your skin to lose moisture which can dull its appearance. Keep skin hydrated and plump by sipping at least one glass of water for every 30 minutes while you tan.
-
6
Return to the indoors and apply Aloe gel over your entire body. Aloe cools and soothes skin.
-
7
Repeat Steps 1 to 6 for several consecutive days until you have achieved a deep, sexy tan. Be patient and don't overdo it early on. As the tan builds, your tolerance will build, so give your skin time to adjust.

Tips & Warnings
Try a safer alternative to suntanning such as sunless tanning gels, sprays or creams. These are readily available at pharmacies and provide a similar coloration similar to outdoor tanning, without the health risks.
Sun exposure has been linked to the development of skin cancer and other dangerous conditions. Speak to your family doctor or dermatologist about the health risks of suntanning.
