Hawkeye Spa Troubleshooting

Problems with your Hawkeye Spa are best addressed after narrowing down the possible causes for technical malfunctions. Issues can include difficulty with temperature control or the inner-workings of a valve or pump. Knowledge about the product can often help you avoid these unnecessary problems. Continued and consistent maintenance will also prevent many common issues. Be sure to read your manual and consult Hawkeye customer service if your problem is not solved after following basic troubleshooting procedures. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Water Problems

    • 1

If the water is not heating, be sure that the spa is receiving adequate power. The topside control may be reporting an error.

    • 2

Select the "Standard" mode on the top control panel to see if the heat light illuminates. If the water still does not heat, contact customer support.

    • 3

If the spa is warmer than the specified temperature, check the ambient temperature setting on the control panel of the spa. The temperature cannot go any lower than this minimum temperature.

    • 4

Check the Filtration Cycle Setting. If continuously running, this setting can cause increased water temperatures from excessive heat.

    • 5

Wait 24 hours to see if the problem is resolved. If the water is still too warm, contact customer service.

    Air in the Pump

    • 6

Ensure that the spa is receiving power.

    • 7

Remove the panels by the pump and press the "Jets" button. If the shaft is rotating, you probably have air in the pump. For the pump that is airlocked, press the "Jets" button repeatedly for 30 seconds. Loosen one of the drain plugs until the water comes out to release the pocket of air.

    • 8

If there is no activity after initially pressing the "Jets" button and you hear a clicking sound, replace the fuse for the pump.

    • 9

If there is no activity after initially pressing the "Jets" button and you hear no sound or a buzzing noise, contact customer service to investigate a possible wiring or motor problem.

    Valve or Jet Problems

    • 10

If you cannot shut off a valve, gently wedge a screwdriver under the cap to remove it.

    • 11

Clean collected debris on the valve and gently reattach the cap.

    • 12

If a jet is not working, turn it counterclockwise to open it.

    • 13

Remove the jet after opening and check for obstructions. Remove a working jet from another location to test the non-working jet. If a different jet works, the original jet needs to be replaced. If neither jet works, contact customer service.
