How to Remove an Oil Carpet Stain
Carpet stains are never pleasant to deal with, and some types of stains are more difficult to remove than others. For example, any type of oil stain can be particularly challenging to remove from carpeting in your home. Iif you spill some olive oil on your carpeting, you can expect there to be a stain that will not necessarily be easy to remove. If you use the right strategies and take a patient and persistent approach, however, you can save your carpet and remove the oil stain. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Spatula
- Baking soda
- Vacuum cleaner
- Cloths
- Cleaning solvent
- Pail
- Dishwashing detergent

Use a straight spatula to scrap any excess oil from your carpet.

Use an absorbent, such as baking soda, to remove excess liquid. Add a generous amount.

Allow it to absorb the liquid for 15 minutes. Then vacuum it up.

Add cleaning solvent to a cloth and blot the area. Continue to blot with a dry cloth to absorb all the solvent.

Mix together a cleaning solution if you can still see the oil stain on the carpet. Add a few cups of warm water and a few drops of dishwashing detergent to a small pail.

Blot on this cleaning solution using a clean cloth. Then, rinse by blotting with a cloth soaked in water.

Remove excess moisture from the carpet once the stain is gone by blotting firmly with a dry cloth.
