How to Encrypt or Decrypt Data in Access Tables

An Access database is a file saved on the Web server. It holds your Web server data, so you can query and show dynamic data to your users. To protect your database from hackers, you apply a password to the file. This encrypts the data in your database. The file is decrypted each time you connect or open the file using your user name and password.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click the Access database to open the file and load Access simultaneously on your desktop.

    • 2

Click the "Database Tools" tab. In the "Database Tools" section, click "Encrypt with Password." A new window opens.

    • 3

Type your encryption password in the "Password" text box. Type it a second time in the "Confirmation" text box. Click "OK" to save your settings.
