How to Unlock a Phone Using MetroPCS

MetroFLASH allows you to activate your non-MetroPCS phone to the service, if compatible.

MetroPCS offers the ability to "flash" -- or unlock -- qualifying phones directly from their website using MetroFLASH. The cost to flash phones is $10 per line, in addition to the cost of activation, as of November 2010. This service is available in most of the MetroPCS service areas, excluding Boston, New York, Bossier City, LA, and western and northwestern Michigan. The MetroFLASH service is provided by the company in stores and authorized dealers only.

Instructions

1. Select your phone's manufacturer from the "MetroFLASH" web page. (See Resources.)

2. Scroll to locate your phone model. If your model number is listed, then your phone can be unlocked using MetroFLASH.

3. Enter your zip code in the zip code box and click "Submit." You will be given a list of MetroPCS locations, or dealers that perform the MetroFLASH process.

4. Visit the MetroPCS location or dealer near you, and provide them the phone you would like unlocked. The location will unlock and activate your phone on MetroPCS service.
