My InkJet Won't Dry on Clear Labels

Clear labels are a great alternative to ordinary white labels. They can lend your mailing labels a nice professional look, and eliminate problems like trying to match the color of the label with the color of the envelope. Most office supply companies make or carry these labels, in all kinds of sizes, shapes and quantities. You can print them off using your home inkjet or laser printer. If you've printed your clear labels on an inkjet printer and the ink isn't drying, however, there are a few things you should consider.

Instructions

1. Check the clear label package to see if the labels are intended for use with a laser or inkjet printer. This information should be readily visible on the front of the packaging.

2. Return your clear labels if the packaging indicates the labels are intended for laser printers. Inkjet and laser printers require different coatings in order to print label sheets correctly. Clear labels are made with polylaser, a clear polyester material; ink from an inkjet printer will not dry on polylaser.

3. Purchase clear labels made specifically for use with an inkjet printer. Many manufacturers and stores carry this kind of label.

4. Try transferring the wet ink on the clear labels onto another sheet of white, uncoated labels. Simply press the plain label sheet onto the clear label sheet. The ink will dry on the new sheet of labels. Only do this if you have no alternatives; the ink will be smudged and look unprofessional.
