Damaged Hair Treatment At Home
There are many different factors that can damage your beautiful locks, such as perms, relaxers, flat irons and hair dryers. Even going to the beach can damage your hair because of the sun and saltwater. While there are products specially made for damaged hair available in drug and retail stores, making your own products at home ensures that you get a pure, chemical-free deep conditioning treatment. Foods such as avocado, eggs, mayonnaise and various oils all help give your hair back its bounce and keep it looking shiny. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 2 bath towels
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- Elastic hair tie
- Plastic wrap
- Shampoo
- 1 avocado
- Bowl
- Fork
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- Plastic food storage bag

Mayonnaise Treatment

Warm two bath towels in the dryer.

Massage 1 cup of mayonnaise into your hair, starting at the scalp and working your way out toward the ends. Coat your entire head, making sure that all of your hair is soaked in the mayonnaise. You may need a little more or less, depending on the length and thickness of your hair.

Gather your hair on top of your head. You can use an elastic hair tie if your hair is extra long. Wrap your hair and scalp with plastic wrap to seal in the mayonnaise.

Wrap one of the warm towels around your head and allow it to heat your hair for approximately 15 minutes. Do the same with the other warm towel for a total of 30 minutes. The heat helps the mayonnaise penetrate your hair.

Take the towel and plastic wrap off; wash off the mayonnaise by shampooing as you normally would. Rinse your hair thoroughly.
Avocado and Egg Treatment

Cut one avocado in half and remove the pit. Scrape the fruit of the avocado out into a bowl and mash it up with a fork.

Separate 1 egg and discard the egg white. Add the yolk to the mashed-up avocado, and then stir in 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil. Combine the mixture thoroughly.

Spread the mixture all over your hair and massage it into your scalp. Work the mixture down the hair shaft, coating all of your hair.

Allow your hair to soak in the avocado, egg yolk and olive oil for at least 30 minutes before shampooing your hair as normal.
Hot Oil Treatment

Pour 1/4 cup of canola oil into a plastic food storage bag and seal the bag.

Place the bag into a bowl of hot water to heat it up. Once the oil is warm to the touch, spread it through your, making sure to cover all the strands.

Leave the oil on your hair for three minutes, and then wash your hair as you normally would. You may want to lather up twice with the shampoo to get all of the oil out.
