Find or take a digital photograph of yourself with your hair pulled back, face forward and no makeup. It's best if your face is the focus of the picture. Place this file on your desktop for easy access.

Navigate to a site that provides free online makeovers. A few good sites are Taaz, iVillage's Makeover-o-Matic and Mary Kay. These websites are listed below in the reference section. Click on the button to start the makeover. The sites have different wording for the buttons, but most are clearly marked.

Select the option to upload a photograph. These sites give the user the option of using a model or uploading your own picture. Click on "Upload" and find the image you saved to the desktop in Step 1.

The online software imports the photograph and opens it in a new window with various editing options. To change the hairstyle, click on the hair button and scroll through the different styles. Place the style on your picture, size it to fit and change the color if you want. The same process applies to makeup.
