How to Change the Light Bulbs on a QX4

Replacing the headlights on an Infiniti QX4 takes a few extra steps if you want the job to go smoothly. When replacing the passenger side bulb, remove the battery in order to gain easier access to the headlamp assembly. On the driver's side, disconnect the air box cleaner to free up work space for this task. No matter what side you are working on, disconnect the battery terminals before beginning this task. Replacement headlights for the QX4 can be purchased at auto parts retailers.

Passenger-side headlight

Step 1

Remove the disconnected battery from its housing to gain easier access to the passenger-side headlight assembly. Unscrew the round plastic cover located on the rear side of the headlight assembly.

Step 2

Locate the metal wiring connector in the headlight assembly and gently turn it clockwise to give you acccess to the bulb. Remove the two metal braces holding the bulb in place. Take out the old bulb and place the new bulb in the socket.

Step 3

Put the bulb braces, wiring connector and plastic cover back in place. Place the battery back in its housing. Reconnect the battery. Test the light before driving.

Driver's side headlight

Step 1

Disconnect the air box cleaner by removing the brackets holding it in place. This will free up work space when changing the driver's side headlight. Detach the round, black plastic cover on the rear of the headlight assembly by unscrewing it.

Step 2

Identify the metal wiring connector in the headlight assembly and turn it clockwise to give you access to the bulb. Remove the two metal braces holding the bulb in place. Remove the old bulb and place the new bulb in the socket.

Step 3

Put the bulb braces, wiring connector and plastic cover back in place. Clamp the air box cleaner back in place. Reconnect the battery. Test the light before driving.
