How to Hide a Caller's Number

How to Hide a Caller's Number thumbnail
Phone users can block their number from showing on caller ID.

Most phone users as of 2010 have caller identification, or caller ID. This feature is available on landline phones and cell phones, and allows users to view the number of the telephone calling them before they answer. It is possible to shield your telephone number from showing up on any caller ID. The process enables any call that you make to show as "Restricted" or "Private Caller" on any caller ID. Such calls cannot be traced using traditional telephone tracing methods.

Instructions

    • 1

Dial *67 on your telephone. You can do this from any telephone, whether a landline phone or a cellular phone.

    • 2

Dial the telephone number you wish to call. This will include the area code if an area code is necessary for connecting the call.

    • 3

Press "Send" if you are using a cellular telephone.

Tips & Warnings

  • You must dial *67 before the telephone number of each call you make in order to disable caller ID.
