How to Take Care of Indoor Epoxy Floors

Indoor epoxy floors provide a durable, non-porous surface that will last a long time with the right care. Since epoxy floors are not porous, stains and dirt do not penetrate into the floor. This makes cleaning less vigorous. However, to maintain the longevity of your floor, you need to perform periodic maintenance. Dirt and debris left on the floor's surface can eventually scratch or damage your floor which will lead to a larger repair bill later.

• Dust mop
• Vacuum
• Wet mop
• Floor cleaner
• Polishing pad brush
• Floor finish stripper
• Cleaning mop
• Scrubbing pad
• Floor finish

Instructions

1. Sweep your epoxy floor daily with a non-oily dust mop to remove any loose dust, debris and dirt. Vacuum the dirt off the dust mop.

2. Mop your epoxy floor with a damp mop and floor cleaner whenever the dust mop does not remove all the dirty. Likely this will happen if wet mud or dirt is allowed to dry on the floor.

3. Polish the epoxy floor with a polishing pad brush to remove scuff marks as they appear. Sweep the floor with a dust mop after you perform this procedure.

4. Recondition the floor if the finish begins to wear. This is likely to happen in high-traffic areas first. Strip the old finish off with a floor finish stripper. Apply this product with a cleaning mop and scrub in with a scrubbing pad. Wet mop the solution up and then rinse the floor with a clean wet mop. Allow to dry. Apply a new finish as per the instructions on the container.

Tips & Warnings

• Scrub your floors at least once to twice a week. Rinse floors after scrubbing to remove residual cleaner.

• Failure to dust mop your floor daily will result in grit getting ground into your floor's finish. Your floor will then need to be refinished more frequently.

• Don't wax your floor with a floor wax. This will cause the epoxy floor to become very slippery.
