How to Replace an Empty Roll of Toilet Paper
The traditional toilet paper holder design employs two parallel brackets with a spring-loaded spindle mounted between them. The brackets allow the toilet paper to roll freely off the spindle. The spindle itself is constructed from plastic, wood or metal. The material the spindle is made of has no bearing on how you remove an old roll of paper and install a new one. Another popular style of holders uses just one bracket. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Grasp the spindle on one side of the empty toilet paper roll and press the end of the spindle in toward its other end. Pull the spindle, along with the roll of toilet paper on it, from between the brackets. Remove the toilet paper roll from the spindle and discard the empty roll for recycling. Do not ball up the empty roll and toss it in the toilet drain; this is likely to clog the toilet.

2
Turn the replacement roll of toilet paper so that it will unroll from the top side. Slide the replacement roll onto the spindle. Install one end of the spindle into one bracket while simultaneously compressing the spindle to allow the entire spindle to fit in between the brackets. Allow the spindle to expand so that the second end of the spindle pops into the holder's other bracket. If your style of toilet paper holder only has 1 bracket, follow Step 3.

Slide the replacement roll onto the rod, with the roll turned so as to allow the tissue to be pulled from the top instead of the bottom.
