How to Join Cotton Yarn

When making a project using cotton yarn, chances are you will need to join a new ball at some point. There are several methods in which this is possible. The method you choose when joining yarn will depend on your personal preference.

Instructions

    • 1

Join a new ball of yarn on the last stitch of the last row worked. Leave the final stage of the stitch incomplete and loop the new yarn around the hook and pull it through the loops on the hook.

    • 2

Knot two loose ends of yarn together on the back of a worked piece before cutting the yarn that will no longer be in use. Leave a 4-inch tail from the previous yarn to make knotting easier.

    • 3

Start a new row by making a slipknot in the new yarn and placing it onto the hook. Insert the hook into the first stitch of the row, wrap the yarn around the hook and draw through the stitch and slipknot making a slip stitch.
