How to Organize & Store Gift Wrap
If you have to run from one room to another to collect items as you rush to wrap a gift and head out the door, it is time to organize and store all your gift wrapping supplies in one place. An organized gift-wrap system makes it easy for you to find just the right wrapping paper, ribbon, bow, gift bag or tissue paper. You can also store all the other supplies you need, such as scissors, tape, gift tags and pens, with your gift wrap.
Things You'll Need
- Long under-bed storage bin
- Paper towel holder
- Plastic storage containers

1
Gather all of your gift-wrap supplies. This includes wrapping paper, ribbon, tissue paper, gift bags, gift tags, bows, scissors, tape, gift tags, pens, cards, silk flowers and gift boxes. If you do not have a pair of scissors and tape dispenser especially for wrapping gifts, buy each of these items.
-
2
Sort your wrapping paper by type. Potential categories include holiday, kids, wedding, feminine, masculine and baby. If you only have a few rolls of wrapping paper, skip this step.
-
-
3
Put your wrapping paper in a long, clear under-bed storage bin, arranged with papers of the same general category near each other. If you have too much paper to fit in one bin, separate them into two bins.
-
4
Arrange spools of decorative ribbon on a paper-towel holder. Put the lightest and thinnest ribbons near the top to keep them from being weighed down when you are trying to unroll them.
-
5
Place all of your bows and rarely-used ribbons in a clear plastic storage bin with lid. Place this bin inside the large under-bed bin.
-
6
Put your other wrapping supplies, including pens, tape, scissors and gift tags into another clear storage bin. Use clear zip-top bags to keep gift tags of specific types together.
-
7
Arrange the paper-towel holder and the smaller clear storage bins inside your under-bed storage bin. Place gift bags and tissue paper on top where you can get to them quickly when you need to wrap last-minute gifts.

Tips & Warnings
If you would rather store your gift-wrap supplies in a closet, put the rolls of wrapping paper in a cloth-lined wicker hamper or a tall plastic trash bin. Organize the additional supplies in a hanging shoe organizer on the back of the closet door or in a tower of clear plastic storage drawers on wheels.
