How to Get a Copy of My 1990 GED
In 2007, nearly 728,000 adults had taken the General Education Development test (GED), according to the American Council on Education (ACE). The GED is considered to be a high-school equivalency credential and is accepted by educational institutions and employers in lieu of a high school diploma. The test is administered in the U.S. and its territories and in Canada. Scores and transcripts are maintained at local GED testing centers and can be requested by following these steps.

1
Contact the GED testing center where you took the GED by mail or by telephone and request a duplicate transcript. The American Council on Education administers the GED Testing Service and provides a listing of testing centers on its website. Testing centers charge a fee to issue transcripts.

2
Submit a GED Transcript Request Form (available online at the ACE website) by mail to the GED Testing Service. The GED Testing Service is a central facility that maintains testing records from military, overseas or correctional facilities; however only those records during specified years are maintained (see ACE website for the exact years for each facility). Tests administered in 1990 at military, overseas or correction facilities are held at the GED Testing Service and, as of 2010, a $14 fee per transcript must be submitted with the request form.
