The most common way to send a text is from cell phone to cell phone. However, there is another option. You can send a text message to a cell number from the Internet, and the person you sent it to will receive the text on his phone as if it were a regular text message. The receiver also has the ability to reply to the text, and the sender can receive replies to her text.

      Open your browser and go to the txt2day website.

      Enter the phone number of the person you want to text. Be sure to include the area code.

      Enter your email address to receive replies. This is optional.

      Select the cell phone service provider by using the drop-down menu. If you are unsure of the provider, use the "Look It Up" link.

      Enter your text message in the labeled field. The "Characters Remaining" will begin to count down until the value reaches 0. The maximum number of characters allowed is 140.

      Answer the "Anti-Spam" question by entering the correct answer to the math problem in the given field. This helps prevent spam texts from being sent.

      Click "Send It!" to send your message to the recipient. Wait for a response to your text if you included an email address.

      Direct your Internet browser to the txtDrop website and type in your email address to receive any reply to your text message.

      Type the cell number of the person you are messaging in the "Recipient's Mobile Phone Number" text boxes.

      Click "Send" to send your message. Any replies will be sent to your email address if you entered it in the first step.

      Navigate to the SendSMSnow website and scroll down to the middle of the page.

      Select the country of the recipient's phone number by using the drop-down menu that says "Select Country." If the receiver purchased the phone in the U.S., select USA from the drop-down menu. The number in parentheses beside the country is known as the country code.

      Type your name in the "From" field.

      Type your message in the "Message" box. You have a limit of 130 characters. You can see how many characters are remaining in the "Counter" field.

      Click "Send SMS" to complete and send your message to the chosen cell number.
