Beaded Eyeglass Chain Instructions
If you wear glasses but do not have to wear them all the time, you may like using an eyeglass chain. An eye glass chain not only keeps your glasses handy but also prevents misplacing them. Making your own eye glass chain is not difficult and gives you creative freedom. You can make several to match different outfits.
Things You'll Need
- Glass beads
- Seed beads
- Bead cord (.012 diameter) at least 1 yard
- Eyeglass holders
- Crimp beads

1
Set up a work area so your beads don't scatter and get mixed up. Arrange the beads in the pattern you like. Eyeglass chains are 26- to 30-inches long so keep that in mind when setting up your beads.
-
2
Measure out no fewer than 26 inches and no more than 36 inches of bead cord and cut it with the wire cutters.
-
-
3
Thread the bead cord through a crimp bead and an eyeglass holder. Thread the bead cord back through the crimp bead, flattening the bead with the flat-nose pliers.
-
4
String all of the beads onto the bead cord, hiding the tail of the bead cord inside the first few beads. This keeps the tail from sticking out once you finish beading the eyeglass chain.
-
5
Thread the second crimp bead onto the bead cord.
-
6
Thread the second eyeglass holder onto the bead cord.
-
7
Thread the bead cord back through the second crimp bead and through a few beads, pulling the bead cord so all the beads are flush again each other.
-
8
Try the chain on with the glasses to make sure the length works for you. If you are happy with the end result, take it off and flatten the crimp bead with the flat-nose pliers. Cut off any excess bead cord.
