Fleece Baby Blanket Instructions
A homemade baby blanket can be a nice project to work on to give to your new baby or to give to a friend who is expecting. A fleece baby blanket can be a nice option for sewing novices, as the versatility of the fleece allows for clean lines without sewing.

1
Choose two pieces of fleece fabric in different colors or patterns. Choosing two different fabrics will make the blanket reversible. You need one and a half yards of each fabric. (Fleece is usually 50 to 60 inches wide.)
-
2
Place the two squares of fabric back to back, so the right side, or face, of the fabric is is facing out on both sides. Secure the pieces together with several straight pins on each side. Place about five pins right at the edges of the fabric on each of the four sides.

3
Cut out a square that is 3 inches by 3 inches from each corner. For example, at the top left corner of the fabric, make a 3-inch horizontal cut that is 3 inches below the top line of the blanket. Make a 3-inch vertical cut that is 3 inches to the right of the vertical side of the blanket. You should now be missing a square measuring 3 inches by 3 inches from the top left of the blanket. Repeat this process on the remaining three corners.
-
4
Make cuts along all four edges of the material. The cuts should be about 3-inches long and about 1 inch apart, and there should be about 30 cuts, making a fringe border.
-
5
Tie each piece of fringe on the top piece of fleece to the piece of fringe directly underneath it. Tie the pieces together in tight knots, going all the way around all four sides, making a decorative, knotted fringe. This fringe is what keeps the pieces of fleece held together.
-
6
Remove the straight pins.
